Description: The simplest wire rope form: six wires helically wound around a
slightly larger central king wire to form a single strand. No multi-strand
flexibility — it functions primarily as a structural tension element. The king
wire is ~7 % larger than the six outer wires to ensure even lay. Available
bright, galvanized, and stainless steel. This construction is also the
fundamental building block of 7-wire PC strand (using high-carbon,
stress-relieved wire) and forms the steel core of ACSR overhead power line
conductors.
