Description: Molten polyethylene is pressure-injected during manufacture to fully encapsulate the IWRC core and fill all inter-wire and inter-strand voids throughout the rope cross-section. This polymer matrix performs four critical functions: (1) continuous internal lubrication replenishing wire contact surfaces throughout service life; (2) a physical barrier blocking seawater, dust, and abrasive particles from the rope interior; (3) prevention of direct metal-to-metal contact between outer strands and the steel core — the root cause of notch-fatigue wire breakage in conventional crane ropes; (4) cushioning that dampens the shock loads transmitted to the core during sudden load changes. Service life improvement over conventional 8-strand rope is regularly 2× or more in container crane and offshore crane service.
